Northwell Health’s Department of Cardiology at Staten Island University Hospital, a leading provider of comprehensive cardiac care in the New York metropolitan area, is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Fellowship-trained Interventional Cardiologist to provide exceptional care to our diverse patient population. This is a full-time, academic position with vast clinical, research, and teaching opportunities. The ideal candidate will be a board-certified/board-eligible interventional cardiologist with high-volume PCI experience, proficiency in complex coronary interventions (including CTO, LM, and hemodynamic support), collaborative skills for heart team management of structural and high-risk cases, and a dedication to outstanding patient care, teaching, and quality improvement at Staten Island University Hospital.
Position Highlights
- Clinical focus: Coronary interventional cardiology with participation in general inpatient/outpatient cardiology; opportunities to tailor practice based on interests and experience.
- Cath lab environment: High-volume cath labs performing diagnostic angiography, complex PCI, intravascular imaging (IVUS/OCT), physiologic assessment (FFR/iFR), mechanical circulatory support (Impella/IABP), and same-day discharge pathways.
- Complex CAD program: Active program for CTOs, left main, bifurcations, calcified lesions (atherectomy/IVL), and high-risk PCI, with dedicated shock and STEMI pathways.
- Structural heart collaboration: Opportunity to participate in structural heart case planning and procedures (TAVR, LAAC, PVL closure, MitraClip/TEER) commensurate with training and program needs.
- Multidisciplinary teamwork: Close collaboration with cardiac imaging, electrophysiology, heart failure, and cardiothoracic surgery; heart team approach for complex and structural cases.
- Technology & support: State-of-the-art cath labs with advanced imaging, hemodynamics, radiation dose-reduction, and post-processing platforms; robust APP, nursing, and technologist support; streamlined transfer pathways within Northwell for quaternary services when needed.
- Teaching & academics: Teach cardiology fellows, residents, and students; participate in case conferences, M&M, and QI initiatives; access to clinical research infrastructure and system-wide interventional councils.
