Corewell Health in Grand Rapids, Michigan announces an exceptional opportunity for a nationally recognized physician leader to serve as the Division Chief of Cardiovascular Medicine at the Frederik Meijer Heart and Vascular Institute (FMHVI).
The Division Chief will serve as an influential and highly visible leader and will execute the divisional strategy, vision, and clinical operations to promote the FMHVI as a premier institution and destination for heart care. The Division Chief will lead a team of exceptional cardiologists to further identify opportunities to improve quality, grow specialty services, and advance organizational initiatives including safety, inclusion, and accountability. The Division Chief will work closely with leaders in vascular, cardiothoracic surgery, and pulmonary medicine to ensure coordinated planning and support for all related services and patient care initiatives. The Division Chief will foster collaborations and partner with programs and centers both regionally and nationally to extend the existing clinical excellence, research, and education in cardiology.
The Frederik Meijer Heart and Vascular Institute at Corewell Health offers a quaternary portfolio of programs and services from prevention to transplantation with a strong foundation on quality, service and excellence. Corewell Health’s Heart, Lung, and Vascular Health service line, consists of over 1400 dedicated and highly skilled medical professionals and staff, including the FMHVI, an all-encompassing heart and vascular hospital with 12 operating rooms including 4 hybrid operating rooms, 9 catheterization labs, and 6 floors of patient rooms. Currently, the Division of Cardiology includes 56 physicians, dozens of advanced practice providers, and a large office and operational staff. This group performed over 87,000 patient office visits, nearly 11,000 cath lab procedures, and 100,000 imaging studies in 2025. There is a robust and productive research program with 73 current and completed clinical trials. The FMHVI houses multiple residencies and fellowships including Cardiovascular Medicine, Interventional Cardiology, Advanced Heart Failure & Transplant, and Advanced Imaging fellowship programs. We are listed as one of America’s Top 50 Cardiovascular Hospitals by Modern Healthcare.
The successful candidate will be a nationally recognized cardiologist and physician leader with an outstanding track record of program development, provider recruitment, and advancing quality and service initiatives to achieve the highest quality patient care. Prior physician leadership experience is required for this role. The individual will have strong interpersonal skills and the demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with other professionals to advance clinical programs, education and research. Board certification, the ability to obtain an unrestricted Michigan medical license and maintain a robust clinical practice is required. The Division Chief will report to Vikram S. Kashyap, MD, Endowed Chair, FMHVI and Vice President of Heart, Lung, and Vascular Health (vikram.kashyap@corewellhealth.org). The successful candidate is eligible for academic rank in the Michigan State University College of Human Medicine.
